Emotional Intelligence has been defined as a mix of emotional and social competencies that determine how well we identify with and express ourselves, relate with others and cope with life’s demands and stresses. Fortunately, emotional intelligence is grounded in common sense and generally enhances as we age.
Research has found that emotional intelligence enhances productivity and much of this research has shown that emotional intelligence impacts leadership capability where organizations have trained or coached their leaders with this in mind. Alternatively, where organizations have hired those who already demonstrate higher levels of emotional intelligence, similar productivity results have been achieved.
It is important to note that studies have found significant correlation between the manager's emotional intelligence and managerial performance, team satisfaction as well as customer satisfaction – Satisfaction and productivity: sound reasons to engage in one-on-one coaching!
